Milk Marque admits selling system is failing

MILK MARQUE admitted last night that its selling system was not working.

This follows the dairy farmers co-operatives failure last week to attract bids from the six large dairy companies for its next batch of contracts starting 1 October.

The processors said the prices were too high, but Milk Marque said they were set at levels that would enable farmers to make a profit.

The Government yesterday rejected a request from Jim Paice, opposition agriculture spokesman, for a debate on the subject.
