Milk quota eases
By Olivia Cooper
MILK quota prices have eased this week, amid dwindling interest on the markets.
“Leased 4% butterfat quota has weakened to about 1ppl,” says Sarah Seed of merchants Ian Potter Associates.
“And a 4% clean traded at 16.5ppl, down from last weeks peak of 17.25ppl.”
ADAS says that there is a lower volume being offered on the market, which is not attractive to most buyers or lessees, who are still looking to secure large amounts of quota.
But the main reason for the lack of interest is that many people are awaiting Julys production figures, which are due out next week, says Mrs Seed.
