MILK super-levy for the 1998/99 year will be £9.3 million for wholesale supplies, according to latest Intervention Board Figures.
This is based on overproduction of 38 million litres.
Total direct sales were within the UKs direct sales quota, so the provisional assessment is that farmer processors will not have to pay a sales levy.
The amount deducted will depend on the wholesaler. Each buyer will pay a levy of about 24ppl for milk collected from their suppliers who have overshot individual quota.
Invoices will be sent out within the next few days and payment is due before 1 September, 1999.
Interest will be charged on payments made on or after that date.
