MILKINGROBOTS HAVENOMORTALFAILINGS

THEY dont get tired, dont swear and dont bruise easily: They are milking robots and theyre out in force at this years European Dairy Farming Event.

Five suppliers will be exhibiting at the event and expect wide ranging enquiries from producers, according to Andrew Reece, marketing manager at DeLaval.

"The types of questions people ask are how long is the pay back period, how reliable is the robot and what management changes will be required. They also want to know whether theyll be able to have a lie in."

Equipment will be displayed in the new Dairy Technology Centre in Exhibition Hall 2 which has received sponsorship from the Milking Machine Manufacturers Association, says the associations chairman Peter Lancaster.

"Members of MMMA will show either working examples of robots or videos of automatic milking systems in action at the event."

As well as milking robots, visitors to the event will also be able to catch up with the latest labour saving technology incorporated into conventional parlours. &#42
