MLC tests alternative to antibiotics

THE Meat and Livestock Commission has started trials on a “green” alternative to the antibiotics given to animal. It hopes that naturally-occurring “probiotics” could help head off the crisis of growing antibiotic resistance among animals and humans.

Probiotics are benign organisms that are found naturally in the gut of most animals.
