MLC unveils digital future
ELECTRONIC systems are set to take over from paper as the means of tracking stock, judging by a demonstration of high-tech gadgetry at a conference staged by the Meat & Livestock Commission at Milton Keynes.
Systems in development range from electronic ear-tagging and DNA footprinting to retinal barcoding systems and the global positioning of stock using satellites.
The devices promise to deliver a higher level of customer assurance, as well as another deterrent to fraud.
