AN OPPORTUNITY to put something back into Britains hard-pressed livestock sector is why Nick Kirby, managing director of Same Deutz-Fahr UK, is supporting farmers weeklys light lamb campaign.
"Such a bold initiative to help cut the big surplus of light lambs is long overdue," said Mr Kirby. To support the campaign, organised by producer meat initiative Farmers First and FW, Mr Kirby has sent 100 light lamb boxes to the companys leading dealers throughout the UK. Farmers First now has 2000 orders for boxes.
UKlifestyle magazine Country Life has backed the promotion. The magazine praised the lamb as "delicious – delicately flavoured, remarkably tender meat". *
So far, Farmers First has taken orders for 2000 lamb boxes. David Owen, chief executive of Farmers First, said: "Our initiative highlights the value of getting closer to farmings customers."
