FOUR new varieties have joined the 2002 nabim Wheat Guide to flour millers preferences.
Xi-19, Solstice and Ambient slot into the potentially premium-earning Groups 1 and 2 (see table).
Access, as a Group 4 type, may be used in some grists but is unlikely to attract a premium.
Abbot and Rialto have been removed from the guide reflecting reduced seed availability, but both remain acceptable, says nabim.
The decline in Group 2 availability continues to disappoint millers and other parts of the demand chain, it adds.
The guide also includes information on farm assurance variety, rejections and claims. *
