MILLERS large and small want 100% assured grain from harvest 2000, according to a recent survey by the National Association of British and Irish Millers.

Three of the thirteen companies surveyed said they want 100% assured grain from next harvest, two were aiming for 75-95% and eight wanted 50-75% assured.

However, only 10-20% of deliveries can currently be identified as assured. "That is significantly below the apparent availability from the 1998 harvest and suggests some deliveries of assured grain are not being properly identified," says Peter Jones, NABIMs representative on the ACCS board.
