National Trust opposes green power

THE National Trust has pledged to fight green energy schemes such as wind farms which it sees as unattractive intrusions into the landscape.

The trust has previously confined itself to proposals which directly affected its properties or land holdings.

It has already opposed a wood-fuelled power station at Newbridge on Wye, Powys, and a 25-turbine wind farm in Yorkshire.

The trust believes that neither scheme gave enough environmental benefit to justify their visual imposition on the land.
