Natural fungicide okay for cereals

AMISTAR, the new azoxystrobin-based fungicide from Zeneca Agrochemicals, is now approved for use on cereals crops.

Derived from naturally occurring fungicides found in woodland mushrooms, the strobilurin compound it is based on is active against a range of fungal diseases (Arable, Apr 25).

Amistar was first approved in Germany last Apri and available in Eire last year.

Amistar will be widely available in early May for a large number of growers to use at the flag-leaf timing, says Zeneca.

Zeneca hopes Amistar will help it win a major share of the £3bn global fungicide market. It is manufactured at Grangemouth, Scotland.
