NCC report ‘misrepresented’ on GM
By FWi staff
THE National Consumer Council had denied that its survey into freedom of information showed that consumers feel misled by the government on genetically modified food.
Instead, the NCC claims the survey showed 85% of the public believe the Government hides information in general from consumers.
“There was no specific interest in GM foods in this survey,” said a spokesman from the NCC. “We feel this has been misrepresented.”
The poll of 1000 found that fewer than one in five of those questioned believe that freedom of information legislation would give them access to the information they want.
