New alliance creates largest potato supplier

Branston Potatoes and WCF have formed a new alliance to run their Tesco business as a joint operation.

Together they will be the supermarkets largest potato supplier, procuring over 130,000t each year.

“We will be able to offer our growers greater efficiencies of scale and a large pool of expertise, as well as ensuring a secure market into the future,” says WCF commercial manager, Eric Ritchie.

“This is a good way to expand the business coming out of Scotland, and should encourage Tesco to source a growing volume of home-produced potatoes,” he adds.
