New chairman for Intervention Board

IAN KENT is the new chairman of the Ministry of Agricultures Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce.

Until recently, Mr Kent was group director of Dalgety. He is the chairman of a number of biotechnology companies as well as a member of the Office of Science and Technologys agriculture, horticulture and forestry foresight panel.

The Intervention Board was recently criticised by the Public Accounts Committee for failing to keep proper financial records and for spending more than double the planned amount on a computer system.
