New environmental site is go

FARMERS CAN keep up to date with the latest environmental best practice following the launch of a new website by the Landcare Partnership.

The partnership* is a group of public and private sector organisations and farmers that aims to minimise the impact of farming on land and rivers.

The website www.landcareuk.net provides latest news and a monthly newsletter on environmental issues, with particular focus on soil and nutrient management through integrated farm planning.

Commenting on the launch of the site, Ron Curtis, chair of the partnership said: “The website… will provide farmers with information on what they need to do to comply with the soil management aspects of the new cross compliance rules and environmental stewardship schemes.”

*partners include: DEFRA, NFU, Environment Agency, English Nature, water companies and county and district councils.
