New line-up for Deutz-Fahr

By Andy Collings

THE line-up of Deutz-Fahr combine harvesters for next season is set to be significantly different following the inclusion of two new combine ranges.

At the bottom end, the Starliner 4040m and 4045H models are to be replaced by the Ectron 5530H. Powered by a Deutz air-cooled six-cylinder engine rated at 170hp, the five straw walker Ectron has a 1270mm threshing cylinder and is available with cutting widths up to 5.4m (18ft). Hydrostatic transmission will be available as standard.

Included in the specification is the air conditioned Deutz-Fahr CommanderCab11 which has CommanderStick control, Agrotronic monitoring system, integral straw chopper and a high level unloader auger.

A slope compensation system, which is claimed to maintain separation efficiency on gradients up to 20%, is an option for the Ectron.

Further up the scale, the Powerliner 4060 is out while the five straw walker 205hp and 240hp 4065HTS and 4068HTS hold fast.

The new Deutz-Fahr 5000 Series models start with the 5670HTS which is equipped with a 260hp air-cooled Deutz engine and can be used with headers up to 7.2m (24ft). Grain tank capacity is 7500 litres.

Two larger models – the 5680HTS and the 5690HTS – are powered by six-cylinder liquid-cooled Deutz engines rated at 280hp and 320hp respectively. Header widths of up to 7.2m (24ft) are available and these models have 8500 litre grain tanks.

Features of the 5000 Series include a 1521mm wide threshing cylinder which, with the concave provides a 1.13sq m separation area. Front and rear concave settings can be independently adjusted electrically from the cab.

The models are also fitted as standard with Deutz-Fahrs Turbo Separator system. With the six straw-walkers this provides a separation area of 8.86sq m. Sieve area is 5.75sq m and fan speed can be adjusted from the cab.

It all adds up to a system, claims Deutz-Fahr, which provides a highly efficient separation and cleaning system.

Externally, the 5000 Series has a new engine layout which includes a self-cleaning rotary screen having a suction system to pull off dust and chaff. Radiator access has also been improved with a one-catch door which opens to allow cleaning operations to be deployed.

For the operator, the combines are fitted with the new CommanderCab111 which features extra space, CommanderStick controls, large glass area and air conditioning.

Options include fitment of Deutz-Fahrs Terminal control and Terminal Information systems which allow the operator to control and monitor combine operation via screen in the cab – as well as providing continuous data concerning yield and crop moisture. Yield mapping is also possible.

Heading the Deutz-Fahr combine range is the 408hp 8XL which, launched last year, is claimed to be the worlds largest conventional combine. Headers of up to 9m (30ft) are available. &#42
