A NEW livestock sales centre is being developed in south-west England by Carlisle-based auctioneers Harrison and Hetherington.
Situated two minutes from junction 17 of the M5 near Bristol, the sales centre is being created on a site owned by farmer and businessman Keith Sherrell at Washingpool Farm, Easter Compton.
The development will comprise two main buildings with extensive livestock penning, large areas of hard-standing and parking, offices and on-site catering, a permanent sale ring and rostrum and fully-equipped milking parlour.
Harrison and Hetherington, whose pedigree sales throughput so far this year numbers over 4000 dairy cattle and almost 3000 pedigree beefstock, plans to open the new centre next spring. Pedigree breed society fixtures are already booked for the Bristol venue.
“We see this as a natural extension to our operations nationally,” said Trevor Hebden, the companys chief executive.
