NH adds to big square baler range

NEW HOLLANDS line-up of big square balers now include four new models – the BB920, BB940, BB960 and BB980 – which replace the D710, D1010, D1210 and 4990 balers.

Considered by New Holland to be an industry first, the two top models can be equipped with a self steering tandem axle, a system designed to reduce surface damage when turning, and reduce stresses on the baler. For transport or reversing, the hydraulically activated system can be locked.

As with the models they replace, there is an option for versions with crop cutting units. A bank of spring loaded 33 knives is fed material by a rotor to produce what is claimed to be the shortest cut length on the market. Knives can be removed if greater chop lengths are required.

For uniform bale density and bale shape, the 920, 940 and 960 models use a new automatic control to maintain a more stable hydraulic pressure on the bale chamber plunger.

Uniformity is further enhanced through use of adjustable sensor plates which regulate the density of the crop before triggering the stuffer fork to pass the crop in equal wads into the main chamber.

Other changes to the range include a new reinforced slip clutch which is designed to provide increased protection of the feeder drive while re-establishing full torque following a slippage.

New Holland has also improved the balers in cab control system. The InfoView monitor can now also monitor knotter operation and bale drops as well as the usual bale management systems. &#42
