NH torques up its tractors

PUTTING such matters as the Case acquisition aside for a moment, New Holland concentrated on launching new tractor and big square baler ranges at Agritechnica.

The Series TM tractors comprise five models which replace the current M/60 models. Power ranges from 105hp for the TM115 to 160hp for the TM165.

The range is equipped with the companys PowerStar 6-cyl 7.5-litre engines with the 115hp plus models benefiting from turbocharging. Torque levels are claimed to have been increased for all models.

The top two models – the 140hp TM 150 and the 165hp TH165 can be fitted with 18-speed full powershift transmissions – Power Command. An automatic mode allows the operator to fully utilise the system – when on the road Auto Transport enables the top seven gears to be used as an automatic transmission with gear selected according to load.

Auto Field, which uses the other 11 gears, allows the transmission to shift up or down gears to optimise field performance with load and speed being the operating parameters. Goto mode can be programmed to select a lower gear for headland turns.

Other features of the Series TM include a soft start for the pto to prevent sudden forces being transmitted to heavy, high inertia implements.

For models equipped with RangeCommand, semi-powershift and Power Command, New Holland provides a front suspension system. Terraglide is claimed to not only improve operator comfort but also to increase traction. Comfort is enhanced through a suspended cab system – springs and dampers at the rear of the cab.

The TM package also includes an option for New Hollands SuperSteer front axle, spool valves which can be connected or disconnected under pressure, and internal air filters to prevent in-cab dust build up. &#42
