NITRAM AWARD FOR BEST
NITRAM AWARD FOR BEST
FERTILISER USE
ARE you an efficient fertiliser user? Do you know how to tailor nutrient inputs to crop needs with an eye on the environment as well as top crop profits? If so, you could be in line for the £2000 top prize in the farmers weekly/Nitram Fertiliser Award.
Judges are looking for a practical approach that makes the most of plant nutrients to boost farm profits, while protecting the environment and consumer interests.
This year the competition has arable and livestock classes. Semi-finalists will be visited for each class, class winners decided and the over-all champion announced at a special presentation later in the year.
Entering is easy, simply complete the coupon (left). Leading respondents will be sent a more detailed questionnaire about their fertiliser policy, from which a shortlist for farm visits will be compiled. All entries received before the closing date will be sent a FREE leather wallet.
So why not show what a skilled fertiliser user you are? Who knows, you could soon be on your way to winning that £2000 top prize?
The prizes
First prize is a cheque for £2000 plus a trophy. The runner-up receives £500. All finalists get a special framed certificate and plaque.
Sponsors message
With nine out of 10 fields in Great Britain receiving nitrogen-based fertiliser, it is important that this input – so vital to UK farm profits – is used effectively and to the maximum benefit of the business.
As the UKs largest nitrogen producer, Terra believes it has a duty to promote responsible use of its products and to provide recommendations to enable optimum yields and quality. It is also important to show a wider audience that farmers are using these products to produce high quality, safe and healthy food.
The NITRAM Award in the past seven years has identified some first class farmers. This years challenge is for you to show that you are using fertiliser in a way in which you can be proud.
1 Open to all bona fide UK farmers and farm managers, irrespective of product allegiance.
2 One entry per farm.
3 Late or incomplete entries will be disqualified.
4 Judges decisions are final.
5 Semi-finalists will be visited in March/April to decide arable and livestock class winners, from which judges will select an overall winner.
6 All finalists will be invited to an awards presentation.
7 Finalists are expected to co-operate in publicity.
