For the year ending March 2000, NMRs pre-tax profit rose to 462,000, on turnover up 5.6% to 17.8m. Earnings per share went up by 35% to 4.26p, with share value now at 105p. Diversification into IT-related businesses was a main contributor to the increase.

Since leaving the Residuary Milk Marketing Board three years ago, NMR has successfully pursued a strategy of investing outside mainstream UK agricultural services.

“NMR is continuing to seek new acquisition and investment opportunities in specific IT service sectors, particularly in food chain management, traceability and the veterinary information management sector,” says chief executive Robin Turner.
