Not a lot to shell out for egg ideas…
EGG decorating is a craft that seems to gather more and more enthusiasts.
I must confess to disliking the popular mock Fabergé-type decoration – all glitter and pearls – that is so often displayed at craft fairs, so the fresh approach in a new book compiled by Gabriella Szutor is most welcome.
This shows some wonderfully modern and striking designs, so good that they could become collectors pieces. Eggs which have been finely etched to look like lace, eggs with more perforation than shell and a stunning collection called Swirling Cavities, all appear to have been created using incredibly fine tools, but in fact utilise vinegar to corrode the shells.
Other techniques create mosaic, floral, batik, patchwork and stylised designs. This is a book to inspire the talented enthusiast and is great value for money. TG.
