NZ farmers jet ski to rescue cows

JET skiing farmers tried to rescue dairy cows after they were swept away by the raging waters of the remote Waimana River, in the Bay of Plenty, off New Zealands North Island.

The island is experiencing the worst flooding this century.

At Mercer, near the mouth of the 263-mile Waikato river, a herd of 60 cattle was stranded. Hopes of rescuing them rested on four jet skiers. But one animal drowned and most of the others remained trapped.
