Organic set to grow and grow

‘Organic set to grow and grow’

ADVOCATES of organic farming are confident it has reached a stage where its future growth is now assured, reports the Financial Times.

The newspaper illustrates that view with a close look at Eastbrook Farm Organic Meats, which has won contracts from Sainsbury and Marks and Spencer.

Helen Browning, who heads the Soil Association, is the proprietor of Eastbrook.

The Scotsman also features a positive story about the prospects for organic farming. It interviews a proponent making the transition from traditional farming practice with a similar upbeat message about his reasons for making the choice.

But The Daily Telegraph counters the pro-organic stories with a review of a book which contends that the current enthusiasm for organic produce is based on a public misconception about the benefits over traditionally farmed produce.
