OILSEED rape prices remain unchanged this week with values too low to tempt
producers to enter the market.
Ex-farm prices are about £157/t for the second week while delivered markets
inched up slightly to average £162.40/t for January deliveries.
February deliveries remain unchanged at £165.30/t.
Crushers margins have been squeezed tighter and production has slowed due to the
difficulty in purchasing seed. There is little hope for any improvement until the
value of rape oil rises, noted one trader.
Soya prices were boosted last week as the cold weather set in the mid-west. Although
dry weather continues over the South American crop, the crops are reported to
still be in good shape. This will tend to limit price recovery, said a spokesman
from the Home-Grown Cereals Authority.
