Pakistan looks for tea auction support

PAKISTAN is seeking the support of the Bangladesh Tea Board for an attempt to establish a tea auction centre in its Karachi Export Processing Zone.

Pakistan had earlier asked the Indian Tea Association (ITA) for advice on opening an auction house. But the ITA declined to help.

Pakistan will be the only non-tea producing country to hold auctions in the commodity if it succeeds.

Until last year, London had been for more than a century the worlds biggest re-export centre for tea.
