Pakistan shrugs off India cotton ban
PAKISTANS cotton industry remains confident of the stability of the market in the face of Indias ban last month on exports from its neighbour.
Strong domestic demand and rising world prices have supported prices in Pakistan ever since Indias decision, according to a report in the Financial Times.
Fears that the Indian action, taken because of alleged “disease” in cotton stocks, would hit Pakistans exports have proved unwarranted.
Officials expect production to rise to over 10 million bales of 375lb, up from last years production of 8.7m bales.
