Pasteurella jabs

PROTECT young calves against pasteurellosis – a major cause of pneumonia and lung damage – with Pastobov vaccine from Merial Animal Health.

Pastobov attacks Pasteurella haemolytica bacteria and reduces the destruction of white blood cells, a major part of an animals defence system. Most at risk are bought-in beef calves and dairy calves from herds with a history of pneumonia, says the company.

Given as a two dose regime a month after birth and then four weeks later, booster vaccinations can be given up to 12 months later where pneumonia is a particular risk. Pastobov is available from vets in 20ml bottles – enough for 10 doses – and costs £19.50 (01270-775858, fax 01279-775888).
