PHOTOS: Southern England hit by storm damage
Fierce storms have hit south east and south west England, causing flooding, power cuts and bringing trees down in some areas.
Reports of damage to farm buildings have been limited so far, but an 89ft wind turbine blew over in a field at Higher Rixdale Farm near Teignmouth in Devon.
Gusts of up to 99mph have been recorded on the Isle of Wight, prompting comparisons with the Great Storm of 1987 when wind speeds reached 115mph.
At 10.07am, the Environment Agency had issued 12 flood warnings and 131 flood alerts.
Heavy rain overnight had pushed river levels up near Mayfield in West Sussex where these pictures were taken on Monday morning (28 Oct).
Contributors to the FWiSpace forums have reported some tree damage and building damage , but at this stage most seem to have avoided serious problems.
