Plan for meat sales on the Internet

BOB WALLUM, of Futech Management, is trying to rustle up interest in developing an online meat auctioning system.

Speaking to a meat industry meeting in Stirling, Mr Wallum said the plan would increase the earnings of Scottish livestock farmers by “at least £6.5 million annually”.

He is looking to raise £20 to undertake development and hoping to get £10m worth of support from the Scottish Executive and £5m from the banks.

Mr Wallum said the balance would come from a number of sources such as meat promotion bodies and a steering group has been set up to take the idea forward.
