Potash duties to stay
STRICT anti-dumping duties are set to remain on potash exports from the former Soviet Union following an investigation by the European Commission into allegations that potash was being sold to the EU below cost price.
The import duties have been in place since 1994, but the following year exporters requested a review. However, potash suppliers in the UK, Spain Germany and France are losing money, so the appeal seems set to fail. That will disappoint EU fertiliser makers, because potash prices have risen 20% since the tariffs were introduced.
