AUTUMN bull buying was in full swing at the British Limousin Cattle Societys show and sale at Portadown where 44 deals levelled at 1872 and a 4000gns bid led the trade.

Auctioneer Tom Clarke described the demand as “powerful” and those that benefited were Trillick breeders Howard and Donald McFarland whose string of five entries averaged 2163.

It was their Rahoney Reuben, an impressive son of Tanat Mostyn (by Ronick Hawk), that drew the sales top bid of 4000gns.

Reuben is out of a Shire Handsome dam and boasted a beef value of 21 to go with his good looks.

He collected the junior and overall championship before being knocked down to the Alison Bros of Limavady who will use him in their Scotchtown pedigree herd and on commercial sucklers.
