Premium claim forms in post

CLAIMS for 1997 suckler cow premium and 1998 Hill Livestock Compensatory Allowances (Cattle) may be made from next Tuesday (July 1).

Combined claim forms are being sent out this week and have to be returned by Dec 6, if penalties are to be avoided. This years suckler cow premium will be £117.36 a head, with HLCA rates announced in November.

There are also two new rates for extensification premium – £29.16 a head for those with between one and 1.4 livestock units a hectare, and £42.12 a head for those with even lower stocking rates.n
