CONSERVATIVE leader Iain Duncan Smith has completed his shadow cabinet reshuffle by appointing Ann Winterton as shadow agriculture minister.

Mrs Winterton, MP for Congleton in Cheshire since 1983, will work for the new shadow environment, food and rural affairs secretary Peter Ainsworth.

A former joint master of the South Staffordshire Hunt, Mrs Winterton has been an opposition frontbench spokeswoman on drug strategy since 1998.

She lists agriculture among her special interests and was member of the Agriculture Select Committee for more than decade until 1987.

Mrs Winterton also takes a keen interest in education, healthcare, law and order and housing and homelessness.

Married to Macclesfield MP Nicholas Winterton, she has two sons and one daughter. Her interests include music, tennis, riding and skiing.
