Producers provide for farm education

FARMERS have donated £20,000 to help improve childrens understanding of farming.

The fund-raising initiative, "One Million Cows Long", was established by a group of farmers and farm secretaries at the height of the BSE crisis. They felt the public needed to know more about the science and practice of farming.

The £20,000 was raised during a marathon tractor and trailer drive from John OGroats to Lands End last year. It was handed over this week to the Food and Farming Education Service.

which provides schools with resource packs including fact sheets and details of farms throughout the country that welcome visits from school children.
