Public dissatisfied with crisis handling

By FWi staff

A LARGE majority of the public are dissatisfied with the Governments handling of the foot-and-mouth crisis, according to a poll for The Times.

The survey conducted by pollsters MORI for the newspaper found that 74% of rural dwellers were unhappy, while only 13% were satisfied.

Among urban residents 66% were dissatisfied with handling, while 22% felt ministers were doing a good job.

The survey found that town and country were becoming more polarised, with the Tories gaining support in rural areas, while Labour advanced in urban areas.
