Put landscapes on display and help your neighbour
PAINTERS – heres your chance to have your work exhibited in London while helping bolster emergency farmer help funds at the same time.
The Society of Landscape Painters is calling for submissions of work from people living and working in rural communities for its open exhibition, The British Landscape, at the Mall Galleries from Sept 4-9.
"As landscape painters, we feel we owe a special debt to the generations of farmers who, through traditional farming practices, have created and cared for the landscape we paint," says the societys chairman Sandra Pepys.
The aim, she says, is twofold – to raise cash for farming charities and to remind the public of the beauty of our countryside and landscape through our work.
"We feel that in the wake of the foot-and-mouth epidemic we would like to give something back to the landscape and those who look after it in farming and rural communities."
The organisers hope to include 500 paintings at the show.
All should be for sale and artists will be asked to make a donation of 10% of sales, with a 30% commission to raise funds.
