Quality eggs for Queen Mum

THE Queen Mother, a lifelong poultry enthusiast, has received two dozen eggs from a Cumbria farmer as part of her 100th birthday celebrations.

The request reached George Taylor via the Poultry Club of Great Britain, who are well aware of his reputation for producing high-quality eggs in a wide range of colours.

"The request was for eggs of any colour other than white so I put together a selection of green, blue and some of the new khaki eggs I have been winning with this season," said Mr Taylor of High House Farm, Crook, Kendal.

Mr Taylor, who featured in Farmlife on Jan 21 2000, has also now also been honoured by the Guinness Book of Records for holding the world record for the number of first prize cards won with eggs in one year, after netting 500 firsts in 1999.
