Quality is key to sheep-business survival
QUALITY is the key to survival in todays sheep market, according to Stuart McCaskie, director of agricultural business for the Bank of Scotland.
Mr McCaskie predicts another tough year for the industry but believes those that produce a quality product will survive.
Speaking at a preview of the ScotSheep 99 fair near Inverness, he said export performance was crucial to counter the static domestic market.
The hosts of the fair are Jimmy and Ian MacPherson, two veteran hill farming brothers, who have 809ha (2000 acres) of sheep and beef spread across four farms.
