Queen meets Smithfield prize-winners
THE Queen visited the Smithfield Show this morning (Wednesday), where she met champion breeders and watched the auction of prize-winning livestock, before embarking on a tour of Earls Court.
Among breeders Her Majesty met was Archie MacGregor, winner of the supreme cattle championship with his Limousin-sired steer Clansman.
Clansman is regarded as one of the best Smithfield champions of recent years, home-bred on Mr MacGregors farm near Glasgow.
His sire is well-known for producing numerous primestock champions and his dam is by the other famous primestock sire Allanfauld Vagabon.
The Queen later watched an auction sale of traditional English beef cattle, which included prize-winning South Devon and Sussex beasts. She then embarked on a tour of exhibitors stands.
