Quin in, Rooker out at MAFF

JOYCE QUIN, former Minister for Europe, has replaced Jeff Rooker as food safety minister in Labours second government reshuffle since it came to power in May 1997.

Ms Quin, MP for Gateshead East and Washington West and former Minister for Europe, moves from her ministerial post at the State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Mr Rooker, MP for Birmingham Perry Barr, becomes junior minister at the Department of Social Security.

A replacement has yet to be announced for junior agriculture minister Lord Donoughue, who resigned yesterday (Wednesday).
