Quota supplies thin but trade remains steady

By FWi staff

THE quota trade remains steady this week, although agents say available supplies are thin on the ground.

Leased quota at 4% butterfat is available at 7.5-8.0ppl. Quota can be purchased outright for 36-37ppl.

Intervention Board production figures for the end of June, show that the country is 16.1 million litres under quota (0.4%) with a cumulative butterfat base of 4.04%.

Farmers have produced 138.9 million litres butterfat-adjusted less milk than last year, equivalent to three days production.
