Read small print on sales contracts warns SAOS

SCOTLANDs farm co-operative organisation SAOS has warned farmers who sell directly to processors or retailers to read the small print of their contracts.

The SAOS claims that some quality assurance clauses have left some producers with no insurance cover. It could mean at the extreme end a producer being liable for all losses sustained by a retailer if a whole product line had to be recalled.
