Recording system aims to minimise paperwork
SIGNET has launched a complete recording system for cattle and sheep producers which promises to minimise the paperwork burden.
Speaking at the Royal Welsh Show, Signet consultant Jonathan Stanley explained how the programme works. "We have looked at the many recording programmes on the market and tried to dispense with their weak points while trying to address all recording needs."
The programme can be used by pedigree and commercial producers. It has facilities for all subsidy claims and allows registration with BCMS via the internet. Producers receive a message on the screen when they must apply for passports for animals entered on the system.
"It is a sad fact of the modern industry that it may be possible to make more money sitting in front of a screen entering information and checking subsidy claims than outside with the cattle. But producers simply cant afford to miss out on subsidies," said Mr Stanley.
Multiple holdings can be registered on the system which has information on subjects such as vet and med, calving history, weights and subsidy claims in the same place.
Minimum keying in is required because, where possible, relevant information such as a medicine treatment can be selected by clicking on it with a mouse and matching it to the treated animal. Search facilities allow animals to be grouped by parity, subsidy status, sex and age.
It costs £395 which includes half a days training. *
Signets new livestock recording system will ensure that cattle and sheep producers dont miss out on vital subsidy claims, says Jonathan Stanley.
