ANY attempt to use farm business tenancy rents as comparables in rent reviews for 1986 Act agreements would be greedy and pointless, claims the Tenant Farmers Association.

The comments follow reports that a group of private landlords are planning to bring a legal test case on the point, in conjunction with Bristol-based solicitors Burges Salmon.

With FBT rents typically much higher than those under the Agricultural Holdings Act any such case could affect all tenants.

"The TFA and its advisers are clear that the legal arguments being used to support the action are unsound and certainly lack any moral foundation," said TFA chairman, Reg Haydon. &#42
