A shearling ram by the 2000 Royal Highland Show champion made the top price of 520gns at the British Charollais Sheep Societys show and sale at Carlisle.

Consigned by John and Ian Beck, who run the Port OSpittal flock at Portpatrick, near Stranraer, the triplet-born ram was by Heathcote Hercules. Buyers were Messrs Collister, Maryport, Cumbria.

John and Rachel Geldard made 500gns for a shearling ram from their Wraycastle flock at Levens. Buyer was Mr Archibald, Isle of Islay. Cumbria bidder Mr Pears from Wigton took another shearling by the Heathcote sire from Messrs Beck at 420gns. Averages: Seven shearling rams £417 and 27 ram lambs £262 (Harrison & Hetherington).
