Saint Petroc bids climb to 1080gns

SOUTH west dairy farmers gathered at Trevissick, near Bodmin last week for the final sale of the Saint Petroc herd of Holstein Friesians for A Shrimpton who is emigrating to Canada.

But it was an entry from guest consignor C P Hawkens Polteworgey herd that led the day when Taunton buyer R B Hartman paid 1300gns for a second calver by Hanoverhill Prophet. Mr Hartman took several lots during the sale.

Prices reached 1080gns three times for the Saint Petroc cattle. The bids came for daughters of Moet Cadet Clatter and A Hilltop-Hanover Hugo.

Averages: Saint Petroc – 26 cows £847. Polteworgey – 25 cows £859. (R B Taylor and Sons)n
