LATEST chainsaw on offer from Stihl (above) is the MS310, which has been designed for general purpose and professional use in farm and forestry applications.
Powered by a 59cc 4hp engine, the MS310 is claimed to provide high torque at medium running speeds.
The MS310 is equipped with a 38cm (15in) guide bar, and an oil pump with a controlled flow rate control system is fitted as standard to keep oil consumption to a minimum.
Further specification includes a fully sealed electronic ignition system which, according to Stihl, enables easy starting in any weather. Price of the Stihl MS310 is £399 (0800-137574).
Meanwhile, if you need a power saw to carry out fabrication work this autumn and winter, the Ryobi Cut-Off saw (below) from Spaldings could be the answer.
Powered by a 2000W motor and equipped with a 35cm (14in) cutting disc, the latest offering from Ryobi comes with a new-style blade guard and a modified rear guard to reduce dust and spark dispersion.
The saw is also equipped with a vice which can be adjusted to cut material measuring 110 x 110mm at 90deg, or 50 x 50mm material at 45deg.
