Scientists identify new cereal killer

SCIENTISTS at the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) have identified a new cereal disease affecting two of Scotlands most popular varieties – Chariot and Landlord.

The SAC said ramularia was the culprit. It has been found to be prevalent in several parts of Scotland, including the north-east.

The scientists are evaluating the optimum means of spraying for the disease.
