Sclerotinia advice
SCLEROTINIA control in oilseed rape is now vital, as intermittently wet weather coincides with flowering in most crops, warns fungicide supplier Aventis.
Warmer temperatures and moist soils have significantly raised the risk from the disease, which emerges from soil resting bodies when conditions are conducive. ADAS monitoring confirms the high sclerotinia pressure, with the south and south-west at greatest risk.
Best timing for treatment is early to mid-flowering, with fields that have suffered at least 20% sclerotinia infection in the past warranting earliest treatment. *
